Hacking Protection-Encrypt/Decrypt individual notes
===================================================

Individual privacy has practically disappeared in society today. For example Google stores everything you enter into Search and Email and their browser Chrome. And they sell that information to advertisers.

The fear expressed by AI (artificial intelligence) experts is that soon some will know more about you than you do and then be able to 'hack' your mind. That is, predict, control and persuade how you make decisions.

Notes2 is a step in the other direction. Allowing you to protect some information by using encryption in a very easy to use and simple process.

Most notes are probably not sensitive and not worth the effort to protect. But consider these kinds of notes:

Your Will
Usernames and Passwords
Personal plans and thoughts
Personal relationship information
Personnel employee information with SSNs
Financial information
People information

We frequently read about how millions of passwords and private information have been stolen by hackers from large corporations and government organizations. Generally information you provided in the belief it would be protected.

The problem was that this information was in Clear Text. If it had been encrypted then your privacy would have been protected.

So the smart thing to do is encrypt the sensitive information so only you can decrypt it when you want it.

Notes2 was designed with this goal in mind.

Here's how it works:

You can use the built-in Encryption and Decryption buttons on the Change screen on a note by note basis and using an individually created password which can be different for each note.

These notes will be stored on the host server encrypted. If the server or the backup storage is hacked (hacker signs in and bypasses Host security or gets access to a copy of the backup files or a host employee is curious and reads information and use it to blackmail you), your notes will be encrypted and unreadable.

Password Selection
------------------
Current research by IBM indicates that the length of the password is the most important factor is preventing decryption, with a minimum of 14 characters. Anything over that exceeds current computer capability for brute force attack. The password should not be included in any dictionary.

Password fields in Notes2 can be as long as 250 characters. Note that passwords are Case Dependent, meaning an A is not the same as a.

Show Password
-------------
If you forget your password, you can click the Show Password button on the Change/Password screen. You are required to enter the credit card number you use for monthy billing, its security code as well as the Security Answer for your account. If you haven't put in a Security Question and Answer for your account, go to My Settings (from QuickSearch screen) and do so. Then it will display the password.

Claw Back Some of your Privacy
------------------------------
As a Regular User of Notes2 you will receive suggestions on how to protect your privacy from time to time on the Sign In page.

Currently we are recommending:
Replace Google for searching with DuckDuckGo which has all of Google's search engine and 4 other search engines
Replace Chrome for a browser with Dissenter.
Both of these do not collect information on you. Read about it on their sites.
